Ten Democratic members of Congress have posed for the NOH8 campaign this week, the first elected national representatives to do so.
The ten Congress members are: Earl Blumenauer who represents a district of Oregon; Judy Chu of California; Eleanor Holmes Norton of Columbia; William Keating of Massachusetts, Dennis Kucinich of Ohio; Barbara Lee of California; Jared Polis of Colorado; Jackie Speier of California; Niki Tsongas of Massachusettes and Lynn Woolsey of California.
NOH8 said more than a hundred invitations were issued, but no Republicans agreed to participate.
Md. Senate Passes Same-Sex Marriage Bill
“ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Senate has passed the same-sex marriage bill 25-22.
Last year, the Senate passed a similar proposal 25-21 and Miller said the vote is not expected to change.
The legislation makes Maryland the eighth state to legalize same-sex unions, when Gov. Martin O’Malley signs the bill.
Last week the House of Delegates passed the bill by a thin margin, courting just one more vote than necessary to pass the measure.
Opponents have vowed to bring it to voters with a referendum on the November ballot.”
This fact was submitted by God hirself.
Gaydarless: THIS IS EXTREMELY URGENT
Hey everybody, the Maryland House of Delegates is likely to vote on whether to legalize marriage equality as soon as today! Right now we have 70 votes yes and we need 71 to get it passed. Delegate Sam Arora, a Democrat from Mongomery County, is on the fence about his vote. In the past he has said he is in support of same sex marriage but is thinking about voting against the bill. If you have a moment please sign this change.org petition to send to Delegate Arora:http://www.change.org/petitions/tell-maryland-delegate-sam-arora-dont-side-with-hate-groups-support-marriage-equality?utm_medium=email&utm_source=action_alert. Also, if you have another few minutes please call Delegate Arora’s office at 410 841 3528 and ask him to vote YES to legalize marriage equality for all Maryland families. At the point i know I have asked a lot of you but please share this and spread the word. The vote may happen VERY VERY SOON!
Please please please reblog this (even if you arent from MD), and like this, and call, and sign, and email, and anything you can do.
“Our state could be on the verge of history. A committee voted 25-18 in favor of a bill that will legalize same-sex marriages in Maryland.”
Thought i’d remind people about this—seems like it’s always college application/decision/open day time…
